Sotta Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL)
The Nyanzaga Gold Project (also known as Nyanzaga or the Project) is being developed by Sotta Mining Corporation Limited (Sotta), a recently established joint venture between the Government of Tanzania (GoT) and Nyanzaga Mining Company Limited (NMCL).
The Project is situated in the southern region of the Lake Victoria Gold Fields in northwest Tanzania. Nyanzaga is located in Tanzania’s Mwanza Region in the Sengerema District. The Project area is situated around 60 kilometers to the southwest of Mwanza.
Open Positions and Description
1. Geo technicians – 11 Positions
Responsibilities:
- Planning and carrying out exploration programs over designated prospect areas under the supervision of the geology manager or senior geologist.
- Everything related to drill rig operations, such as sample preparation, sample books, sample sheets, sample bags, sample dispatch, and QAQC protocols for air core, RC rig, and diamond drilling.
- Oversee the preparation of the pad, the rig setup, the preparation of the core tray and core blocks, the marking of the meter, the core orientation, the core cutting, and the core and chips photo.
- Weighing at the core (bulk and relative densities).
- Measuring the samples from the DD core, AC, and RC chips for magnetic susceptibility (magsus).
- Carrying out field support duties that geologists have allocated in order to maximize resource identification and reduce geotechnical hazards associated with mining.
Qualification:
Geology and Exploration Diploma or Certificate from any accredited institution
Alternative:
O-Level/A-Level Secondary School Certificate or Basic Technician Competence a geology and mineral exploration certificate and at least three years of experience in the field
- Two years minimum experience in mining and exploration.
- Ensuring field operations adhere to safety regulations.
- A valid driver’s license is an extra benefit.
