Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation (MFAEAC)

The East African Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFAEAC) was founded by the Notice from the President on the Assignment of Ministerial Duties (Instruments) Official Notification No. 534 dated July 2, 2021. The Ministry is tasked with developing and overseeing the execution of foreign policy, international cooperation, and east African cooperation policies within that instrument. Additionally, the Ministry oversees the management of bilateral and multilateral Cooperation; Coordination of International Treaties, Conventions and Agreements;

Consular services; Protocol and Credentials; Economic Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs; East African Cooperation Affairs; Performance Improvement and Development of International Trade; International and Regional Cooperatives, including SADC, Common Wealth and African Union; Economic Diplomacy and Promotion of International Trade;

Human Resources, in addition to the Ministry’s extra ministerial departments, parastatal organizations, agencies, programs, and projects.

Open Positions and Description:

1. Foreign Service Officer – 12 POSTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To create meeting agendas, minutes, and discussion logs; also, to produce reports on matters pertaining to international relations.
  • To take part in a number of bilateral and multilateral engagements, conferences, and meetings both inside and outside the nation, and to make reports in accordance with such participations.
  • To draft succinct notes that high-ranking officials in the national government and ministry will utilize on a number of occasions, including bilateral meetings, multilateral forums, interviews, etc.;
  • To monitor matters pertaining to international relations, assess, and provide advise if necessary;
  • To carry out in-depth analysis and offer recommendations on social, political, and economic concerns;
  • To maintain documentation of various diplomatic and world events; and
  • To do out any tasks that a superior assigns.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

possessing a bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: economics, international relations, Public policy, political science, business management, international law, international economics, business administration, business management, law, or comparable training from an accredited university.

SALARY SCALE: As per Government Salary Scale.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  1. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years of age except for those who are in the Public Service;

    • Professional Registration and Training Certificates from respective Registration or Regulatory Bodies, (where applicable)
    • Birth certificate
    • Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted: -Form IV and form VI results slips;
    • Testimonials and all Partial transcripts
    • An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal.
  6. An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his application letter through his respective employer;
  7. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply;
  8. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;
  9. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA);
  10. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE)
  11. A signed application letter should be written either in Swahili or English and addressed to Secretary, Presidents Office, Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, P.O. Box 2320, Utumishi Building at University of Dodoma – Dr. Asha Rose Migiro Buildings – Dodoma.
