Ministry of Defense and National Service
The Ministry of State in the Office of the Vice President was responsible for the duties of this Ministry from 1972 to 1989, when the Ministry of Defense and National Service was formally founded in 1995. The Minister of State in the Office of the President oversaw the Ministry’s duties from 1989 until 1995.
Furthermore, the Ministry was known as the Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs prior to the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Protecting the United Republic of Tanzania’s sovereignty and national interests from both internal and external threats is a major duty of the Ministry.
Open Positions and Description:
1. Assistant Medical Officer Grade II – 5 POSITIONS
DESCRIPTION
- Identify patients’ problems and provide medical services, prevention, and services for mothers and children;
- Perform emergency and routine surgeries;
- Plan, implement, and evaluate health services in their workplaces;
- Plan the implementation of disaster and various emergency response plans;
- Conduct research in various health areas to improve service delivery; and
- Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Employment with an Advanced Diploma in Medicine from a government-recognized college with a license to practice issued by the Medical Council of Tanganyika and at least three years of work experience.
SALARY SCALE: Based on the government salary scale TGHS C.
2. Assistant Technologist (Laboratory) – 5 POSITIONS
DESCRIPTION
- Prepare reagents for laboratory tests;
- Perform preliminary work on samples brought to the laboratory;
- Collect blood from patients and volunteers;
- Record test results in the registry;
- Prepare work equipment;
- Properly store all samples requiring storage after examination; and
- Perform other duties assigned by their supervisor related to their education, experience, and skills.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Employment of Form Four or Form Six graduates with a certificate in Laboratory Science from a government-recognized college and registered with their respective Councils as applicable.
SALARY SCALE – Based on the government salary scale TGHS A.
3. Assistant Technologist (Pharmacy) – 2 POSITIONS
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Prepare drug and medical equipment requirements and usage;
- Procure, store, and distribute drugs and medical supplies in their area of work;
- Prepare reports on the use of drugs and medical supplies;
- Maintain records of drugs and medical supplies; and
- Perform other duties assigned by their supervisor related to their education, experience, and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
Employment of Form Four or Form Six graduates with a certificate in Pharmacy from a government-recognized college and registered with their respective Councils as applicable.
