The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), acting on behalf of the Mwanza Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MWAUWASA), is inviting competent, results-driven, self-driven, ethical, dynamic, and suitably qualified Tanzanians to apply for the fourteen (14) open positions listed below.
The Water Works Ordinance Cap 281 (as amended by Act No. 8 of 1997) established the Mwanza Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MWAUWASA) in July 1996 as a semi-autonomous executive agency of the government to provide Mwanza City with affordable and cost-effective portable water and waste water management services that are adequate, dependable, and sustainable. It was granted permission to expand its services to Kisesa Township in the Magu District in September 2007 after it was proclaimed fully independent in January 1998. The Tanzanian government is the sole owner of the Authority.
The Water Supply and Sanitation Act No. 12 of 2009, the Water Works Regulations of 2013, the Public Procurement Act No. 7 of 2011 and its Regulations of 2013, the Public Finance Act 2001 (as amended), the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry responsible for Water, the MoU between the Government and Development Partners (2006), the Operating License issued by EWURA, and Operational Guidelines are the laws by which the Authority operates.
Open Positions and Description:
1. Artisan (Pump Operator) – 3 POSTS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To make sure that the proper amount of water is pumped out of the storage tanks by operating water pumps in accordance with predetermined schedules;
- Monitoring the water level in the dams or storage water tanks; iii. Servicing and maintaining the gate valves, water pumps, dosing pumps, and water filters
2. Artisan II (Plumbing) – 7 POSTS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To monitor and report any water leaks; ii. To monitor and report any water loss or distribution issues and suggest appropriate remedial measures;
- To compile information for the supervisor’s periodic reports; iii. To respond to and report water distribution system contamination via customer service lines;
3. Pump Mechanical – 4 POSTS
Responsibilities:
- To do mechanical upkeep and repairs on machinery, equipment, pumps, and plants,
- Should compile a list of the supplies that will be needed for upkeep.
Qualification:
- Owner of a Form IV Certificate in Pump Mechanics from an accredited institution, together with a Trade Test Grade II or NVA level II certification.
SALARY SCALE: MWASS 2.
