National Institute of Transport (NIT)
The National Institute of Transport Act, No. 24 of 1982 cap 187 Revised Edition 2009 created the National Institute of Transport (NIT) as an independent Higher Learning Institution. With registration number REG/EOS/009 of 2002, it is completely accredited by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).
The NIT offers consulting, research, and training in the areas of transportation and allied topics. The Institute is now wrapping up pilot training in an attempt to meet the growing demand for pilots in the aviation sector.
Open Positions and Description
1. Flight Instructor I – 2 POSTS
Responsibilities:
- To get lessons ready for the simulator, theoretical, and flying exercises;
- To provide student pilots with theoretical, simulator, and flying instruction;
- To do student pilots’ briefings and debriefs.
- To evaluate the student pilots receiving instruction’s theoretical and flying proficiency and provide recommendations;
- Certifying aspiring pilots for solo flights;
- To compile the student pilots’ performance report;
- To carry out competency assessments and skill evaluations in order to grant licenses;
- To create and evaluate curricula;
- To organize, create, and evaluate a training curriculum;
- To oversee flying teachers over their whole training
- To plan instructional activities and provide educational materials;
- Junior employees with on-the-job training
- Must make sure that safety regulations are followed at all times while receiving training; and
- To carry out any additional responsibilities as
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in aerospace science, aeronautical engineering, or aircraft engineering is required. mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, aviation management, air transport management, airport management, airline management, aviation safety management, logistics and transport management, logistics management, or transport management with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or an average of at least a B+ grade from accredited institutions.
- A valid commercial pilot’s license (Aeroplan) issued by Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority, featuring a multi-engine instrument rating and a grade Ill flight instructor rating (qualified flight instructor);
- Eleven thousand hours of total flight experience, of which at least 250 hours must be recorded as a Certified/Qualified Flight Instructor, 500 hours as SEUMELt flight time, and 100 hours as PTC on Cessna aircraft.
