Danish Refugee Council (DRC)

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), which was established in 1956, is a humanitarian non-governmental non-profit organization that offers direct help to populations impacted by violence in more than 40 countries worldwide, including refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and host communities.

Since the beginning of the Burundi refugee crisis in 2015, DRC has been carrying out emergency response initiatives in Tanzania in three camps for refugees in the Kigoma Region near the Burundian border.

Sectors include Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Protection (CBP, PSN, GBV, CP, and Legal), Shelter and Infrastructure, and Economic Recovery are included in DRC integrated projects for refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities.

Open Positions and Description:

1. HR and Admin Officer

Responsibilities

  • Make sure that the DRC Operations Handbook’s general HR standards and procedures are always followed and adhered to.
  • Assistance during the entire hiring process
  • Help the Senior Management Team create staff development programs that are tailored to each employee’s needs and align with the long-term strategic priorities, DRC vision, and values.
  • Create and maintain new hire briefing and induction materials, and supervise and manage the induction procedure.
  • Responsible for organizing and recording the hiring and firing of incentive workers, as well as creating the monthly Refugee Master Roll and Refugee Payroll.
  • Help to ensure that statutory deductions and their remittance are carried out in compliance with applicable legislation. This includes submitting to the NSSF (employer & employee contribution), TRA (payroll levy and PAYE), and any other deductions required by applicable laws.
  • Ascertain that every new employee has a bank account number and social security registration, and oversee the procedure by ensuring that all required application forms are filled out completely.

2. MEAL Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and/or update databases, reporting formats, and M&E tools in close coordination with the area manager and sector leads.
  • To guarantee high-quality data, do data audits and analyses. Then, create a report that includes pertinent indicator data for each grant, displays targets against actuals, and includes an action plan. Send this report to the sector leads on a quarterly basis.
  • Beneficiary counting: each grant should have a quarterly summary broken down by age and gender, by sector.
  • Work with IT to provide field employees with data management and storage advice.
  • Oversee an efficient and long-lasting system for program participants and beneficiaries to provide feedback to DRC.
  • As a strategy for global standard measurement and accountability, assist in the implementation and observance of the Core Humanitarian Standards and facilitate reporting in accordance with DRC standards and criteria.

Experience

  • Seven (7) years of experience in a relevant role is a minimum.
  • Experience working for an international non-governmental organization in a comparable capacity is preferred.
  • Shown knowledge of firsthand observation and assessment, particularly in relation to development and humanitarian work.
  • Proven track record of creating tools and processes and enhancing others’ abilities in program monitoring and documentation.
  • Understanding of conceptual frameworks, logical models, assessment/evaluation, and monitoring and evaluation techniques.
  • Proven track record of putting in place beneficiary complaint and feedback systems.
  • High level of competence in Microsoft Excel and Word.

3. Team Leader Economic Recovery – P2P Project

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction for initiatives aimed at promoting financial inclusion, including the architecture of the link between formal financial institutions and entrepreneurs.
  • Take the lead in creating revolving funds to assist with financial inclusion.
  • Give technical advice on how to create and train VSLAs, as well as how to manage capacity expansion.
  • Collaborate with official financial institutions to facilitate clients who are difficult to reach by establishing dialogues with target populations and fostering confidence.
  • Assist small businesses in obtaining funding and making safe loan repayments; when required, offer coaching to promote loan development and repayment.
  • Create a pipeline of target area companies that are able to obtain formal financing, and assist in getting these companies connected to financial institutions.
  • Give technical advice on the ID and KYC requirements for obtaining formal financing access.

Education

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business development, agribusiness, economic development, natural resource management, agricultural economics, or community/international development from an accredited university. A master’s degree in a related discipline is ideal.

4. Driver

Main Responsibilities:

  • To carry out the routine driving tasks for DRC Tanzania
  • To guarantee that all protocols and directives are adhered to, and that you are knowledgeable about car and trip safety measures.
  • To be accountable for the security of the passengers and to make sure that the driver and all passengers always buckle up.
  • To guarantee that automobiles are always adequately fueled and maintained
  • To clean and perform daily maintenance on the cars you drive, including checking the tires, oil, batteries, water, and wipers
  • To precisely document every trip made in the car’s logbook.
  • To guarantee that Tanzanian speed limits and other traffic laws are always followed.
  • Must follow all DRC security regulations
  • Accountable for and in charge of all tools and equipment within the car.
  • Accountable for the cargo placed inside the car and delivering it to the destination undamaged.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Two years minimum of job experience, preferably in a rough-road environment
  • A current driver’s license that is good for any light vehicle
  • A conscientious disposition and an advanced comprehension of the nature of the work
  • Familiarity with operating four-wheel drive vehicles
  • Capacity to function as a team member
  • Written and spoken in the language of England

Education

  • Secondary education level is required
  • Driving college certificates.

5. Supply Chain Assistant (Warehouse Management)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring complete inventory management and warehousing compliance
  • Receiving, storing, and shipping items in accordance with DRC warehouse management guidelines
  • Ensuring compliance with security and safety regulations in all warehouse locations
  • Carrying out physical inventory inspections on a monthly or recurring basis in accordance with donor and DRC criteria.
  • Oversee general and warehouse storage for consignments and warehouse facilities.
  • Share weekly warehouse stock reports with the logistics supply chain team leader.
  • Give prompt notice of goods that must be disposed of, such as unusable or outdated goods (broken, expired, etc.).
  • Carrying out delivery monitoring and collaborating with fellow warehouse colleagues on the delivery of diverse items and services to numerous destinations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Three years or more of expertise in humanitarian supply chain operations
  • Familiarity with supply chain management, particularly with logistics
  • Familiarity with important donor regulations and guidelines, such as those of UNHCR, DANIDA, etc.
  • Familiarity with DRC Dynamics or a related ERP system
  • Complete competence in Kiswahili and English for work purposes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related discipline with practical experience.
  • A certificate in supply chain management and humanitarian logistics.
