Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS)

The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is an autonomous government agency that was created with the express purpose of streamlining the hiring process for public service positions. The Public Service Act No. 8 of 2002, as revised by Act No. 18 of 2007, section 29(1), established the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat.

The Secretary General, President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance has sent the Geita District Council an employment permit with reference number FA.228/613/01/B/081 dated April 22, 2024, pertaining to replacement employment. The Geita District Council’s Executive Director posts job openings and requests applications from eligible Tanzanians to occupy the positions.

Open Positions and Description

1. Village Executive Officer III – 8 Positions

Qualifications:

  • Either Form Six (VI) or Form Four (IV) must have been completed.
  • Must hold a Basic Certificate or Diploma from any government-approved institution in one of the following areas: Arts Science, Administration, Human Resources, Law, Community Development, Public Education, or Financial Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the village government’s chief executive and accounting officer.
  • Acts as the village’s peacekeeper and supervisor of good governance, overseeing the safety and security of residents and their belongings.
  • Directs and coordinates the creation and execution of village development plans.
  • Oversees the Village Council’s committees and meetings.
  • Oversees and interprets the application of rules, regulations, and guidelines for the Village Government’s operations.
  • Creates updates on how chores are being carried out in their community and encourages people to design and carry out plans to end hunger, combat poverty, and boost productivity.
  • Oversees, gathers, and preserves all Village records and paperwork.
  • Oversees the gathering of Council Revenue and keeps track of every Village taxpayer.

Salary: TGS B per month, in accordance with the Government Salary Scale.

General Conditions:

  • A certified birth certificate from a lawyer or advocate must be attached by all applicants.
  • Candidates who are employed by the government and who meet the requirements to be promoted to a higher cadre than the one they presently occupy must submit their job application letters through their employers, who must also properly recommend them.
  • Candidates should enclose a thorough Curriculum Vitae (CV) with three credible referees’ names, addresses, and phone numbers.
  • Academic records, transcripts, copies of certificates certified by a lawyer or advocate (including Form Four and Form Six certificates for those who have attained that level), and completion certificates for various pertinent training programs in accordance with the job requirements must be included with all applications.
