Accountant responsibilities include:

  • Create forecasts for your budget.
  • Control accounting-related activities

  • Release financial statements on schedule.
  • Organize quarterly, yearly, and monthly closings.
  • Make sure the bank reconciliation happens on schedule.
  • Calculate taxes and put together tax returns.
  • Control balance sheets
  • Report on the liquidity and health of the organization’s finances
  • Examine financial records and transactions
  • Maintain the confidentiality of financial data and, if needed, perform database backups.
  • Respect financial rules and policies.
  • When necessary, revise the organization’s financial policies and processes.

Project Accountant Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ experience working on projects financed by donors Experience working as an accountant
  • Outstanding familiarity with accounting rules and practices, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (IPSAS and IFRS)
  • Possess a working grasp of Tanzanian laws, rules, taxes, and other requirements related to government compliance
  • Being well-organized, on time, and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Teamwork ethic
  • Meticulous
  • Self-driven and reliable
  • Practical knowledge of accounting software, primarily QuickBooks
  • knowledgeable about accounting software, especially Quick Books
  • knowledge of general ledger operations
  • Strong analytical abilities and a keen eye for detail
  • Accounting, finance, or a related degree for a BA/BSc
  • Additional qualifications are beneficial.
