The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), in collaboration with the Water Institute (WI), Livestock Training Agency (LITA), Fisheries Education and Training Agency (FETA), Marine Parks and Reserves Unit (MPRU), and Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI), hereby extends an invitation to dynamic and qualified Tanzanians to apply for the eleven (11) open positions listed below.
Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS)
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is a government organ with a status of independent Department established specifically to facilitate the recruitment process of employees to the Public Service.
PSRS’s primary function is to make public service recruitment easier. As per Section 29 (1) of Public Service Cap. 298 of 2002, as modified by Amendment Act No. 18 of 2007.
Open Positions and Description:
1. Assistant Lecture – Quality Surveying – 1 POST (RE -ADVERTISED)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To instruct students at NTA level 8, or bachelor’s degree;
- To lead students in tutorials and hands-on activities;
EXPERIENCE
Holder of a Master’s Degree (NTA Level 9) in one of the following fields:
2. Assistant Tutor (ICT) – 1 POST
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assist students pursuing a basic technician certificate (level 4 NTA;
- To evaluate students’ attainment of NTA level 4 competencies;
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 5.0 in information and communication technology or computer sciences from an accredited institution is required for the Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6 or equivalent), and the holder must be prepared to register as a Technical Assistant Tutor.
3. Tutor II – Marine Engineering – 1 POST (RE-ADVERTISED)
DUTIES
- Instructional activities up to NTA level 6, with the possibility of helping with higher levels;
- To carry out exams up to NTA level 7.
QUALIFICATION
Holder of Bachelor Degree (NTA 8) in Marine Engineering from recognized Institutions.
4. Assistant Tutor II – Master Fisherman – 1 POST (READVERTISED)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To instruct courses up to NTA level 4, with the possibility of helping with higher NTA levels;
- To get instructional materials ready for hands-on activities;
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A Master Fisherman with an Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6) from an accredited institution.
5. Park Ranger II – 1 POST
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To take part in MPA patrol operations;
- To help in the coordination of patrol logistics and enforcement with nearby communities.
EXPERIENCE
A certificate (NTA Level 5) in one of the following fields: aquaculture, fisheries, wildlife, fish processing, environmental and coastal resource management, marine science, or natural resource management, or equivalent credentials from an accredited institution, is held by the holder of form four, IV, and VI secondary education. It will be advantageous to get a Certificate of Basic Military Training from the national service.
6. Ferry/Boat Operator – 2 POSTS (RE-ADVERTISED)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing and operating a boat and other machinery while doing operations at sea;
- To get all necessary equipment ready on board.
EXPERIENCE
Holder of a diploma (NTA level 6) in one of the following: marine engineering, marine operations, master fishing, or comparable training from accredited schools. The candidate needs to have finished courses in passenger safety, crowd management, swimming, marine rescue, and small vessel operation.
7. Deckhand Auxillary II – 3 POSTS
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out manual labor-intensive tasks such as painting the ship and maintaining deck and fishing equipment while being supervised and trained by senior crew members;
- To assist with handling and operating deck machinery; iii. To carry out general cleaning activities; iv. To transport research equipment to and from research vessels;
EXPERIENCE
Holder of a Secondary Education Certificate plus a Certificate (NTA level 4) in one of the following subjects from an accredited institution: Master Fisherman, Fishing and Fisheries Technology, Navigation and Fishing Science, or Nautical Science.

- The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) should validate certificates from international examination bodies for education at the Ordinary or Advanced level;
- The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) should verify professional diplomas from foreign universities and other training institutions.
