Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) is Tanzania’s human rights advocacy organization. LHRC was established in 1995 as a non-governmental, voluntary, non-partisan and not-for-profit sharing organization, with the purpose of working to empower and conscientize the people of Tanzania on legal and human rights.

Leading and supporting LHRC People & Culture strategic objectives is the main goal of this role in order to help the organization accomplish its goals and produce strategic results. The People & Culture Manager, who reports to the Executive Director and collaborates closely with the LHRC Management Team, is expected to lead and oversee an efficient human resources department to support employee lifecycle management, effectively develop the organization’s people and culture capability, and support broader organizational and strategic management as a member of the LHRC Management team.

The position also has a key role as ambassador for organisational culture and values, ensuring they are visible, embedded, and upheld.

1. People and Culture Manager

Responsibility

  • Create and implement a People and Culture plan for LHRC.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of the LHRC’s short- and long-term strategies, making sure that important individuals and cultural factors are effectively included.
  • Examine and comprehend the larger corporate landscape, and offer knowledgeable, professional analysis and strategic guidance for continuing operations and anticipated choices.
  • High level analysis of important people data and trends to support strategic aims and provide necessary guidance on the best course of action.

Experience

  • A human resources management bachelor’s degree along with HR professional credentials
  • Five to seven years of HR management experience.
  • Having a master’s degree gives you an advantage.
  • Knowledge of utilizing any type of HR Information System
  • A benefit would be experience working for a non-profit organization or in a sizable, international, matrixed organization.
  • Thorough understanding of HR principles and the capacity to pick up new material fast.
  • Exceptional communication skills both in writing and speaking
  • A track record of success in developing and maintaining strong working relationships, using a client-centered approach, and being extremely resourceful.
