Open Position and Description:

1. Senior Project Officer – Gbf Project

Principal Duties: The Senior Project Officer will oversee, coordinate, and offer technical assistance, expertise, and leadership for all activities related to the WWF GBF Project’s Tanzania component. Generally speaking, the incumbent will be in charge of carrying out GBF-related projects at the local level and utilizing them to reach the national, regional, and international levels. In conjunction with implementing partners, stakeholders, and WWF colleagues nationally, regionally, and internationally, the post-holder will be in charge of coordinating the execution of the project workplan and finances.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and flexible administration of GBF project schedules, financial plans, and oversight structures.
  • Make that the project complies with international development and environmental policy frameworks and supports inclusive management for biodiversity preservation and sustainable resource use.
  • Encourage and guarantee the development and application of regional and national policies that are inclusive, effective, and responsive to international policy frameworks, especially the CBD protocol.
  • Encourage and impact gender parity in the utilization and distribution of the advantages derived from biodiversity resources.
  • be in charge of creating the policy advocacy plan and oversight for the GBF project.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in policy management, international relations, forestry, conservation biology, social science, or allied fields like natural resource management.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the industry, with expertise in large-scale project or program development, management, and leadership in any one or more of the aforementioned domains.
  • Experience working with external partners as well as multidisciplinary teams. knowledge of high-level participation in national, regional, and international policy advocacy.
  • Understanding of the international accords, treaties, and protocols pertaining to the conservation of biodiversity.
  • Prior participation in and familiarity with national and international platforms for biodiversity policy.
