Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has over thirty years of expertise serving the public, corporate, and community sectors. The following topics are covered by the Global Health Division (GHD): neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and global health security; noncommunicable diseases; strengthening health systems (health governance, health finance, human resources for health, capacity building, and health policy and advocacy); integrated care (reproductive, maternal, and child health, and family planning). We address a range of public health challenges with the goal of reducing inequities, lowering disease burdens, and developing locally owned, long-lasting health programs.

The Tanzania Malaria Vector Control Activity (MVCA), which is funded by USAID, is currently accepting applications for the post of Finance and Administration Director. Applications can be sent to RTI International’s Global Health Division. In relation to this activity, USAID | Tanzania will support the government of Tanzania in its vector control endeavors, specifically concerning the distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets, outreach aimed at modifying social behavior, entomological surveillance, and operational research. The project will work to ensure that the population at risk of malaria receives the proper vector control interventions in addition to strengthening the existing relationships between district and community platforms and the business sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all MVCA financial and administrative matters and guarantee adherence to USG and RTI accounting and financial policies and guidelines.
  • Oversees the creation and submission of the monthly financial statements, which include the payables, expenses, and accounts receivable.
  • Makes certain that bank reconciliations, wire transfer requests, and expense reports are sent to the US corporate headquarters on schedule.
  • Creates pipeline projections that give a summary of the Activity’s financial situation, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual spending plans.
  • Creates biweekly cash requirements, keeps an eye on cash flow, and reconciles cash accounts to keep the right amount of cash on hand.
  • oversees the administration of payroll, procurement, and human resources for MVCA.
  • Makes certain that the right record-keeping practices and financial management systems are in place in order to allocate, account for, budget, report, and have sufficient internal controls.
  • When needed, offers technical support.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in business administration, economics, or finance  
  • Accredited Public Accountant
  • A minimum of seven years of senior-level experience overseeing finance and administration in projects and grants financed by USAID, with ten years of experience managing projects of a comparable size, complexity, and environment—experience in Tanzania is preferable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in finance, accounting, and auditing, as well as in program decision-making regarding cost principles, rules, and regulations and grant compliance monitoring.
  • Outstanding record of management, supervision, and leadership abilities.
  • Proven track record collaborating with technical personnel to guarantee precise and efficient resource distribution.
  • Outstanding history of timely and accurate reporting to partners, donor agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of accounting and procurement tools, as well as familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (QuickBooks experience desirable).
