Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE)

Part of the University of Dar es Salaam, which was established in 2005, is the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE). According to the 2010 Regulations and the Dar es Salaam University College of Education Charter, the College’s main duties are to offer integrated teaching, research, and public services.

The College welcomes eligible public officials to apply for transfer in order to improve teaching, research, and public service delivery at DUCE.

Open Positions and Description

1. Library Officer – 3 Posts

Responsibilities:

Doing bibliographic searches on users’ behalf;
To encourage the application of IT to fulfill user needs;
To do research on users’ information needs;
To conduct studies and provide consulting in the field of libraries and information;
To manage demanding supervisory and professional responsibilities in the library;
To take part in creating new policies and processes for libraries;
To determine which materials the library should order;
To oversee and instruct subordinate employees;
To support information consulting endeavors;
To arrange and keep up with incoming library material, journals, reprints, and other reports; and
To carry out any additional relevant tasks that the supervisor assigns.

Qualifications:

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Librarianship, Library Studies, Library and Information Science, Information Studies, Documentation, Information Management or equivalent qualifications from recognised institutions with working experience of at least four (4) years in related field.

2. Library Assistant I – 3 Posts

To carry out secretarial work in libraries;
Completing reader registration;
To provide readers with books;
Receiving reader-submitted works; and
To carry out any additional relevant tasks that the supervisor assigns
Holders of the Form IV/VI Certificate plus Diploma in Library and Information Studies, Library and Information Science, Information Studies Documentation, Information Management Librarianship, Library Science, Library and Information Studies, Library Studies, or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.
