Regarding the USAID/Tanzania Lishe (Nutrition) Project, Chemonics is looking for Regional Drivers. The five-year project is to improve food and health market systems that encourage a variety of stakeholders in the targeted regions of Tanzania to adopt habits related to optimal nutrition.
We are looking for people who are passionate about improving people’s lives all across the world. One of the five regions of the Project—Njombe, Songwe, Rukwa, Katavi, and Kigoma—will host the Regional Driver.It might be necessary to travel to Lishe’s other regional offices.
Responsibilities:
- Driving the designated project car on a daily basis, as assigned and/or as approved in advance by the supervisor; this includes going on planned field excursions, project-related travel both inside and outside of the designated territory, and additional driving assignments as needed.
- Making sure the designated car is clean.
- Ensuring that the designated car is operable and safe to drive once a week. Check the brake fluid, fan belt, oil, tires, wipers, lights, and signals once a week.
- Starting and overseeing the necessary maintenance and repairs for the designated cars
- Meeting the criteria for project reporting, including keeping track of the routing and condition of vehicles.
- Observing traffic regulations, exercising caution, and making sure all occupants of the automobile are buckled up are ways to ensure passenger safety.
- Additional tasks as they come up.
Qualification:
- Requires a valid driver’s license from Tanzania and a clean driving record.
- Five years of minimum driving experience required.
- Preference given to experience working on a project financed by overseas donors.
- Auto mechanic knowledge is needed. It is advantageous to have a mechanic or auto maintenance certification.
- Shown integrity, adaptability, and leadership
- Outstanding English communication skills, both written and spoken.
