Management and Development for Health (MDH)

The main goal of Management and Development for Health (MDH), a non-profit, non-governmental organization, is to assist in tackling Tanzania’s and global public health concerns. Reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH), nutrition, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, non-communicable diseases of public health importance, and strengthening the health system are among the objectives.

As part of a planned initiative on Global Health Security (GHS), MDH is seeking candidates for the roles of Chief of Party (COP) and Deputy Chief of Party (DCP) for the USAID Usalama wa Afya Duniani Activity in Tanzania. The project intends to support Tanzania’s government in developing, validating, and implementing interventions to prevent, detect, and respond to threats from emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) in the country using the One Health Approach. This will be accomplished through evidence generation, multisectoral engagement, and capacity building for health systems.

Responsibilities:

Establish strong, cogent technical instructions, manage programs, exercise overall leadership, and start creative problem-solving to meet the project’s objectives.
Give local public and commercial organizations technical leadership in knowledge transfer and capacity building for Global Health Security / One Health Approach to ensure the sustainability of the project’s activities.
to collaborate closely with the Finance Directorate to oversee the project’s financial management, analyze budgets, and inform management and USAID/Tanzania about the project’s scope of work and budgetary expenses.
Serve as a point of contact, build credibility with USAID and other foreign donors, and proactively place the organization at the forefront of national and international efforts related to global health security.

Qualifications:

A master’s degree or above in public health, epidemiology, health sciences, laboratory sciences, medicine, or a related field An additional benefit will be professional training in management and leadership.
Possessing a minimum of ten years of expertise in senior management and leadership roles overseeing extensive, intricate, and cross-sectoral health programs in two or more of the following areas: laboratory sciences, surveillance, One Health, infectious disease epidemiology, outbreak response, and antimicrobial resistance.
It is highly ideal to have demonstrated experience working as the Chief of Party (COP) for a USAID-funded project, with a proven ability to manage project money and a diverse workforce.
Having at least eight years of prior experience working on affiliate or USAID-funded projects, as well as a wealth of prior experience
