Tanzania Cotton Board (TCB)

The Tanzania Cotton Board is a legislative body charged with overseeing the growth and long-term sustainability of the cotton subsector. It was founded by Act of Parliament No. 2 of 2001.

Specifically, TCB is in charge of government regulatory tasks in the cotton subsector, including keeping an eye on farmers’ adherence to regulations and best practices, ensuring a steady supply of agricultural inputs, maintaining fair competition for companies involved in the cotton industry, and collecting, evaluating, and disseminating information to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

To support with matters concerning budgeting and planning;
To support the management and planning of development initiatives;
To aid in the identification of activities that generate income;
To support the development of strategies and plans for the short- and long-term;
To create guidelines for planning and aid in the coordination, preparation, implementation, monitoring and assessment of the strategic plan;
To carry out any additional relevant tasks that his or her supervisor may prescribe.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines from an accredited university, or an equivalent qualification in project planning and management, economics, statistics, agribusiness, or planning and investment.
