Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC)

The Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) and the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) founded the ecumenical Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) in 1992 with the goal of enhancing and coordinating the provision of health and educational services by member churches in Tanzania. More than 900 church-owned health facilities, the bulk of which are located in rural areas and account for roughly 14% of Tanzania’s total number of health facilities, and 1000 church-based educational institutions, which provide 10% of the country’s total number of educational services, are coordinated by the CSSC.

For the upcoming USAID Usalama wa Afya Duniani Project in Tanzania, CSSC is now hiring experienced individuals to fill the posts of Chief of Party (COP) and Deputy Chief of Party (DCP). With the use of a One Health Approach, Tanzania will be better equipped to prevent, identify, and treat newly developing infectious diseases. The project will assist in the creation, verification, and use of initiatives meant to fortify health systems, provide data, and promote cross-sectoral cooperation.

Responsibilities:

  • In order to accomplish the project’s goals, take the lead by offering thorough program management, creating logical technical plans, and encouraging creative thinking.
  • Provide technical assistance to local public and private entities in order to sustain project interventions by sharing information and developing capacities linked to Global Health Security and the One Health Approach.
  • Work together with the Finance Directorate to manage the project’s finances, analyze the budget, and report project scope and financial performance to USAID/Tanzania.
  • Build and preserve a solid rapport with USAID and the global donor community while strategically arranging the organization both domestically and globally in the field of global health security.
  • In order to guarantee efficient and legal contract administration, communication, and reporting to USAID/Tanzania, collaborate with the Grants Directorate.

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree or above in public health, management, or a similar subject.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in the planning, execution, and management of intricate, large-scale public health initiatives. This experience should include technical expertise in large-scale development projects across sectors as well as leadership experience.
  • Professional background working with international donor organizations, government agencies, governments and counterparts in the host country, the private sector, and civil society in developing nations.
  • A track record of successfully overseeing USG-funded public health initiatives and a proven ability to effectively manage technical, financial, and diverse team aspects.
  • Capacity building and project scope implementation skills demonstrated in cooperation with public and private healthcare facilities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
