Responsibilities:
- Assign a shipment file number, initiate the opening of shipment files, determine and acquire landside and transport rates, third-party service provider prices, and ensure that the rates on the shipping line invoice correspond with purchase rates.
- Make sure the clearing department receives all necessary paperwork, including confirmation of the cargo details, that the consignee has been duly informed, and that the status report has been updated.
- Collect data on cargo and origination, as well as purchasing and selling rates, from the appropriate office. Then, work with the customer and overseas offices to decide on the best shipping option.
- Enable prompt response times and internal document handovers by keeping an eye on the delivery of cargo in relation to reservations made with shipping companies or airlines, and guaranteeing that everything is in order.
Qualifications:
- Matric
- NCFF (NQF ¾), favorable FIATA Diploma
- A degree in logistics or a related field is preferred.
- Outstanding ability to communicate
- Adherence to deadlines
- Be mindful of the details.
- Make sure that the promises made to customers are fulfilled.
- Knowledge of Operational Freight Forwarding Systems
- Microsoft Office: Excel and Outlook
- Solid comprehension of INCOTERMS.
- Thorough understanding of the customs regulations, Incoterms, and forwarding and clearing business
- Three to five years’ minimum experience in import/export freight forwarding and clearing.
