Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED)

The Campaign for Female Education, or CAMFED, is well-known throughout the world as a pioneer in girls’ education, a proponent of women’s empowerment and girls’ education at the highest levels, and a policy and practice advocate for child safety. Established in 1993, CAMFED provides assistance to young women as they progress through elementary and secondary education, pursue further education and skills in the economy, and assume leadership roles as advocates, activists, and donors.With a base in Dares Salaam, CAMFED Tanzania is hiring a Program Manager for Advocacy, Policy, and Partnerships (one), a Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer (one), and a Communication Officer (one).

In order to promote program and policy change goals, the officer will assist CAMFED in building stronger, more productive connections with government stakeholders at the local, regional, and national levels. They will be familiar with Tanzanian government structures, regulations, and procedures and have a history of advocating for youth empowerment and the education sector with success. Working closely with the senior management team and liaising with members of the larger international CAMFED team (Development and Communication), this cross-cutting function involves collaboration with all major departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the advancement of the partnership and advocacy strategy’s execution.
  • Monitoring modifications to the implementation
  • Compose insights learned as the program is implemented.
  • For reporting purposes, record quarterly updates.
  • Put into practice the advocacy and collaboration plan for CAMFED Tanzania.
  • Maintain tabs on the submission of ongoing government reviews, including those of legislation, policies, guidelines, and budgets, as well as internal organizational documentation supporting system reforms.
  • Encourage the National Advisory Committee to carry out its co-design and implementation of initiatives to assist with system reforms.
  • Collaborate with coalitions of pertinent ministries, stakeholders, and development partners as well as technical working groups.
  • Plan outreach initiatives for the government and stakeholders, such as exchange visits both domestically and abroad, to facilitate knowledge acquisition and the exchange of best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in project management, development studies, international relations, political science, or social sciences.
  • Experience in a related subject, such as project management, development studies, international relations, or social sciences.
  • Strong networking background and the capacity to form alliances for the effective execution of programs.
  • Experience working on policy, including conducting policy research and helping to plan and carry out policy initiatives. Working in the education sector prior experience is a plus.
  • Capacity to work both individually and collaboratively, excellent communication and advocacy abilities, attention to detail, and project management abilities.
