African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD)

AIRD’s objective is to offer operational support, including but not limited to supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods and WASH in partnership with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected and development-oriented areas. AIRD delivers for and through partners including but not limited to UN Agencies, international and national donor organizations and governments.

AIRD is seeking a strategic, goal-oriented leader with expertise overseeing business growth and country programs in a difficult environment.

Open Position and Description:

1. Country Program Director

Responsibilities

  • Create and preserve a dynamic senior leadership group and make sure the AIRD Code of Conduct and Policies are adhered to.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, development, and expansion of Country Program (CP) resources and activities in accordance with the CP strategic plan.
  • Oversee the coordination, administration, and recording of all resources within the collaborative country program.
  • In order to guarantee a varied, competent, and effective workforce, oversee the management and development of the joint country program human resources.
  • Lead the creation and execution of an efficient resource development strategy and offer guidance, leadership, and support.
  • Encourage staff and partners to uphold AIRD’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Important Partnership Standards and Practices, and make sure that these serve as the cornerstones of the organization’s strategy and operations.

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • A graduate degree from an advanced university program in international relations, international development, project planning and management, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Ten or more years of expertise in international development in senior management roles. Possessing successful fundraising campaigns under your belt and program management experience are definite advantages.
  • A track record of successfully implementing new technology into programming or creatively influencing program design and delivery through the utilization of current technologies;
  • Substantial senior leadership and management expertise in the creation and implementation of excellent program influencing and humanitarian strategy, either directly or through partners, in one or more difficult areas;
  • A high level of self-awareness and knowledge of how to promote and encourage exceptional individual growth as well as team performance in accordance with AIRD’s policies and values.
