By utilizing agricultural biodiversity and transforming food systems sustainably, the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) provide evidence-based solutions that enhance people’s lives. The worldwide challenges of environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, climate change, and starvation are all addressed by the Alliance’s solutions. Through creative collaborations, the Alliance produces data and popularizes technologies to change food systems and environments in a way that feeds people, promotes wealth, and preserves the environment.
In order to support communication efforts for the Accelerate and bean initiative in Tanzania, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is looking for a Communications Intern to be situated in Arusha, Tanzania. This position will be co-supervised by a communication analyst and report to the research team leader.
Responsibilities:
- Encourage the creation of communication products and content, such as newsletters, blogs, case studies, multimedia visuals, and captivating stories, for distribution to a variety of audiences.
- Collaborate with the communication analyst to draw attention to project milestones over a variety of platforms, such as social media, The Alliance, and the PABRA website.
- To increase visibility, promote the project work in the local and regional media.
- Assistance in gathering lessons learned, best practices, and knowledge management resource synthesis.
- As required, assemble interactive communication packages for the project.
- In order to guarantee that all communication products adhere to the donor communications criteria, coordinate with the project coordinator and the regional communications team.
- Help with the editing, design, and layout of reports, presentations, and other technical publications.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a field connected to development, public relations, or communications.
- Outstanding proficiency with common software programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and others.
- It is advantageous to have experience in journalism, communications, or public relations.
- Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- Strong copy-editing and drafting abilities for use in internal and external communications.
- Strong analytical and research abilities.
- Enthusiastic, driven, self-starter who shows initiative.
