A midwifery strengthening project is carried out by Amref Health Africa Tanzania under the auspices of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in partnership with Amref Canada and the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM), as well as Amref Tanzania and the Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA).

With funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), this project will increase the number of qualified midwives in Tanzania and use a multifaceted approach to target health training institutions, healthcare facilities and staff, TAMA, community members and leaders (women, men, girls, and boys), and government stakeholders in order to lower the country’s unacceptable high rates of maternal and newborn mortality.

1. Project Manager M-15

Responsibilities:

  • Create the yearly plans and budgets for the project and supervise their execution for approval.
  • Create weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans and budgets and supervise their implementation for Amref Health’s approval.
  • In charge of creating and timely submitting the program and financial reports
  • In charge of creating and submitting program reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to donors and Amref Health Africa on time.
  • Organize and keep an eye on all of the material, financial, and human resources of the
  • bolstering the midwifery project to guarantee its effective execution · In charge of overseeing the management of all project assets, including cash, supplies, machinery, car(s), and commodities.
  • Keep standards high in accordance with Amref and donor requirements when carrying out project activities. 3 Encourage the MOH/PORALG to follow the regulations.

Qualifications

  • Usually, a bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in nursing, midwifery, or healthcare management is needed.
  • It is strongly advised to pursue a master’s degree in public health or project management.
  • Professional qualifications relevant to the role are recommended.
  • A minimum of six (6) years’ experience managing comparable intervention initiatives
  • Proficiency in overseeing workers and maintaining donor relations partners
  • Expertise and track record in midwifery technology. It is important to have previous experience working as a midwife or in a related capacity in the healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated coordination, planning, leadership, and management abilities as well as a track record of successfully collaborating and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong capacity-building and interpersonal abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and training abilities.
