Diocese of Central Tanganyika (DCT)
The DCT was established in 1927 by the Diocese of Mombasa. On March 30, 1955, it was registered under the Societies (Application for Registration) Rules, 1954, with the Tanzanian government, with registration number 79. The Dodoma City Council, Bahi District Council, and Chamwino District Council are the three districts in the Dodoma Region where DCT operates.
The department of ophthalmology at Mvumi Hospital, in partnership with the Diocese of Central Tanganyika (DCT) in Dodoma, is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to oversee the successful and efficient implementation of the Enhancing Access to Inclusive Eye Health for Children initiative in Tanzania’s Central Zone.Duration of the contract: one year.
Responsibilities:
- Assure that the project is generally implemented effectively and efficiently, adhering to the approved project plan and any additional requirements of the project contract between DCT – Mvumi Hospital and Christoffel – Blindenmission (CBM)
- Create and keep an eye on cost and implementation schedules.
- Prepare and oversee project budgets and cash flow estimates under the direction of the head of the department of the eye care unit and in coordination with other senior financial staff members.
In close collaboration with the related staff from Mvumi Hospital, the Project Coordinator shall fulfill the following duties,
- To locate important decision-makers and stakeholders, cultivate relationships with them, and ensure sure their involvement and expectations are properly managed.
- To ensure clear understanding by communicating program core messaging in a suitable and effective manner.
- Ensure that project resources are used effectively and within the predetermined budget. Consult with CBM to determine any necessary adjustments as the project moves forward.
- To establish and oversee deadlines in accordance with Christoffel – Blindenmission requirements (CBM)
- Organize the responsible parties’ efforts to carry out the project’s activities and accomplish its goals.
- To plan and lead workshops in order to achieve their goals.
- To produce paperwork in compliance with the donor’s criteria to facilitate communication on important issues, events, presentations, and reporting.
- The task involves keeping an eye on the execution of the activities, recognizing any irregularities or program issues, and reporting back to the project lead and Christoffel-Blindenmission (CBM) for any necessary revisions.
- As instructed by the hospital’s senior management, plan and oversee field visits for Christoffel-Blindenmission (CBM) Tanzania and other stakeholders.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee educational and outreach initiatives;
- Make sure the project’s operations are properly monitored and controlled for quality.
- Prepare progress reports, annual reports, project completion reports, and any other reports that Christoffel- Blindenmission (CBM) Tanzania may request, or oversee their production as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Project Management, Business Administration/Management/Social Sciences, or a comparable degree from an accredited university or institution
- Having a master’s degree in the aforementioned topic is unquestionably advantageous.
- Five years or more of project/programme management experience minimum at a respectable development organization
- Demonstrated expertise in budget management and project monitoring
- Demonstrated proficiency in creating narrative and statistical project reports
- Possessing prior experience in financial management and experience acquiring products and services are advantages.
Required skills:
- Capable of confidently managing and cultivating connections with government, high-level NGOs, and other stakeholders
- Relevant project-management experience in the field of public health, including eye health
- Proficiency in working remotely with teams and effectively communicating in written and spoken English
- Capacity to carry out change management and planning
- Ability to solve problems, strong ability to prioritize, and a high level of organization and focus
- Possessing the ability to plan and lead workshops and meetings with stakeholders
- Completely capable of using a computer, including the necessary programs (MS
- Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) as well as internet connectivity;
- Abilities in team building and leadership.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiating, and analytical abilities;
- Capacity to interact with stakeholders at all levels in an efficient manner;
