Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI)
To meet the demand for skilled seafarers, the Ministry of Transport and Communication founded the Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) on July 3, 1978, through a cabinet resolution. With the passage of Act of Parliament No. 22 of 1991, the government renamed the training institution the Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) in order to better serve the growing demands of the shipping industry in the area.
The main campus of DMI is situated next to the Port of Dar es Salaam on Sokoine Drive in the commercial center of Dar es Salaam.
Open Position and Description:
1. LECTURER (MARITIME TRANSPORT/MARINE ENGINEERING) – 1 POST
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To instruct and lead seminars at NTA level 9, which is the master’s degree;
- To mentor and oversee students as they develop their research and practical projects;
QUALIFICATION
Holder of a PhD in either Maritime Transport, Nautical Science, Navigation Technology, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Economics, Maritime Law, Costal Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Shipping and International Trade, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Ship Design and Construction, Offshore Engineering, Mathematics, Petroleum Engineering, Oil and Gas Technology, Procurement and Logistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent Qualifications from recognized Institutions with a GPA of at least 3.5 at Undergraduate level and at least 4.0 at Master Degree.
