Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT)
With its headquarters located in Arusha, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) is a faith-based organization that was founded on June 19, 1963. The ELCT’s goal is to offer everyone comprehensive care. The Deputy Secretary Generals (DSG) for Mission and Evangelism, Social Services and Women’s Works, Planning and Development, and Finance and Administration support the ELCT Secretary General in providing management and leadership oversight.
A five-year OVC project named the Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Northeastern Zone (KHNEZ) Project is presently being carried out in nine regions of Dodoma, Singida, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Tanga Geita, Mwanza, and Mara by the Directorate of Health and Diakonia of the ELCT HQ, with funding from USAID.
Responsibilities:
- Using the Kizazi Hodari Northeastern zone, senior management, and the zone team as a guide, develop periodic project work plans (annual, quarterly, or semi-annual), then communicate the plan to the staff for prompt implementation.
- Offer comprehensive technical, operational, and administrative assistance to project personnel while fostering an organizational culture that upholds principles and values.
- Oversee and monitor project work plans in a timely manner, and use innovation to expedite execution. In charge of a quality improvement team that follows authorized quality improvement tools, including SIMS, for planning and decision-making based on evidence.
- Supervise the project budget, keeping track of expenditures, approving travel requests, authorizing staff terminations, and approving all project outlays.
- In four councils, the project manager is the project leader who bears the final responsibility and accountability for the timely and high-quality execution of projects.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in economic development, community development, public health, sociology, or a related field.
- A master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be beneficial.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant managerial OVC programming work experience.
- Prior expertise in team management and leadership.
- Composing reports and expertise in publishing.
- Knowledge in at least one of the following technical fields: case management, child protection, CD, youth and adolescent work, economic strengthening, and bidirectional referral and linkage.
- Proficiency in Kiswahili and English.
- Recognizing OVC concerns and safeguarding children.
