Leading global initiatives to end hunger is the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized agency of the UN. The incumbent will work closely with the FAO Tanzania and consult project PMU to ensure that current findings and actions that are being delivered for FISH4ACP are further enhanced and integrated through this work. 

Responsibilities:

  • Determine potential sources of finance for Beach Management Units (BMU) and particular fish landing sites in order to support the viability of the cold chain’s operating expenses and those of other current facilities.
  • Find BMUs without cold chain facilities and locate additional financing sources so that fish landing sites and BMUs can carry out their mandated operations.
  • Determine financing sources for the chosen fish landing sites that can finance additional or ongoing operations and amenities, such as ice plant maintenance, water and electricity bills, and other renovation or management expenses, without depending on outside funding from the LGA or donors.
  • Based on the identified funding mechanisms for the operation of their chosen 10 BMUs and three critical fish landing sites, develop focused business plans for them.

Qualification

  • A graduate degree in marketing, business administration, natural resources, agriculture and fisheries economy, or social science.
  • English and Kiswahili constitute working knowledge.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience creating action plans or bankable business plans.
  • Either a citizen of Tanzania or a resident there with a current work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills 

  • Knowledge of Cold Chain System (CCS) management
  • Demonstrated analytical, writing, reporting, and presenting abilities.
  • experience doing out market research and business planning with track record of success.
  • Proof of having influenced policy implementation in the past as a trainer will be highly valued.
  • The capacity to work successfully with and mentor a local team both in-person and virtually, as well as the availability to visit the field sites.
  • Shown interest in social enterprises and expertise analyzing the long-term financial viability of nonprofit institutions.
  • Understanding the backdrop of the place or nation and aquatic items will be given a high rating.
