We work with a number of partners in sub-Saharan Africa to support the improvement of livelihoods, increase food and nutrition security, increase employment opportunities, and preserve the integrity of natural resources. IITA is a member of CGIAR, the worldwide agriculture research partnership for a food secure future.

The Project Manager oversees the AABS country activities in conjunction with the WorldFish country office and the AABS Project Lead. The position holder will interact with WorldFish country leadership and headquarters personnel on a regular basis.

Qualification:

  • A Master’s degree with at least seven years of experience leading research projects in a relevant field, such as international development, environmental science, aquaculture, fisheries, or aquatic resources management.
  • A related qualification, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) status.
  • Proficiency in both Swahili and English.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the nation’s AABS project management for all work packages, knowledge management, and communications. Participate actively in work planning, budgeting, partner engagement, and implementation, making sure that the project is in line with FCDO’s COAST and Blue Planet Fund priorities.
  • Establish robust connections between the national project and the broader global program by supplying the information, reports, and inputs required to guarantee coordination, knowledge exchange, and on-time delivery.
  • Oversee the project’s implementation, oversight, and reporting in Tanzania and make sure that national-level initiatives contribute to the MEL system and program’s end result.
  • Help national scientists and sub-partners to guarantee that projects are carried out in a coordinated manner across all technical domains.
  • Manage resources effectively, making sure you have enough material, financial, and human resources to complete projects on time and at a high standard.
  • Establish and maintain connections with the government, local stakeholders, and the donor (FCDO) in order to properly represent WorldFish’s interests.
  • Remain up to date on national plans and activities, donor and government agendas, and make necessary adjustments to guarantee conformity with AABS goals.
  • Organize WF’s participation in other FCDO and BPF programs to guarantee knowledge sharing and alignment.
  • Represent AABS in forums pertaining to project management at the national, regional, and international levels as needed.
  • Work together with AABS employees and partners to match research initiatives with national priorities, BPF plans, and FCDO objectives.
  • Through coordination with communication teams and stakeholder engagement, direct the adoption and distribution of research findings.

All four jobs have two-year contracts that are renewable based on performance and funding availability. IITA is offering a competitive compensation package for these positions, which are being recruited nationally.
