Jhpiego made a name for itself as a pioneer in training for reproductive health early on. Jhpiego began providing medical professionals in the USA with training sessions on family planning and reproductive health in 1974.
Jhpiego’s initial in-country training initiatives were launched in 1979 in Thailand, the Philippines, Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tunisia. With funding from USAID, About Jhpiego carried out three worldwide Training in Reproductive Health Projects between 1987 and 2004. Jhpiego started publishing educational materials on long-acting family planning techniques in 1993.

1. Jhpiego Hiring Director (Finance) T-11
Reporting to: Chief of Party
Position supervised: Finance Manager and Operations Manager
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and directs the project’s administrative and financial processes.
- As needed, assist with project start-up, close-out, and the opening of additional offices.
- Contribute to the creation and execution of project-specific SOPs, administrative protocols, and financial management strategies that adhere to donor and institution operating systems and rules.
- Provide leadership, direction, and counsel on project-related financial and operational matters as a member of the senior management team. Improve financial and operational assistance by collaborating closely with the Chief of Party and other senior project personnel.
- Oversee and guide the finance personnel.
Finance
- Oversee the application of standards and controls throughout the financial system. Examine and keep up a robust internal control framework to guarantee accurate financial reporting. To maximize the processing of financial transactions and necessary financial reporting, monitor and modify the project financial system. Oversee the financial and accounting facets of the work of project finance managers, finance managers, and operations managers.
- Under the direction of the manager of grants, contracts, and strategic partnerships. Examines and offers comments on award documents, modifications, and other legally binding documents that other parties have provided for the project.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting.
- nine years or more of program management experience with USG funding.
- Outstanding accounting and financial abilities
- Accustomed to using the accounting program QuickBooks
- Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- The capacity to handle multiple important tasks at once with effectiveness.
- Aptitude for using Microsoft Office software
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (local language preferred; English necessary)
- Capability to operate both individually and collaboratively in an unstructured setting.
- Maintain secrecy when handling employee compensation.
- Experience working for international organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), ideally with USG funding.
- The ability to travel inside the country as needed.
