The Karagwe District Co-operative Union Ltd (KDCU Ltd) is an Agricultural Cooperative Society formed and registered by the Registrar of Co-operatives in 1990. It was established with the general purpose of promoting, developing and improving the status of its member farmers in various economic, social and environmental sectors in accordance with guiding principles and fundamentals of Cooperatives. This purpose is geared to enhance coffee farmers’ incomes and their livelihoods in Karagwe and Kyerwa Districts.

Karagwe District Co-operative Union Ltd (KDCU Ltd)

Currently the Union has grown into a strong and autonomous organization hence the need to recruit qualified personnel. In this regard, the Board of KDCU Ltd seeks to recruit a qualified dedicated self- motivated and hardworking Tanzanians to fill the General Manager vacancy at its offices located at Kayanga in Karagwe District.

The successful candidate will be the Chief Executive Officer of KDCU Ltd and will report to the Board of Directors. They will be responsible for providing dynamic leadership vision and direction of the enterprise while ensuring an appropriate outreach and high-quality services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise daily operations of the Union.
  2. Develop Union’s short, medium and long-term plans.
  3. Oversee effective and efficient implementation of the Union’s short-, medium- and long-term plans and provisions of relevant legislations, rules and regulations pertaining to the Union;
  4. Provide direction and leadership towards achievement of the Union’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Objectives, Strategies and Deliverables.
  5. Ensure that the Union consistently presents strong and positive image to stakeholders and the general public;
  6. Manage the Unions operations and provide feedback to the the Board implementation progress of those operational activities;
  7. Coordinate Board’s administrative affairs including Board appointments meetings and all related issues as required by law;
  8. Responsible for approving various payments of Union in line with approved standards.
  9. Prudently manage utilization of the Unions resources within approved budget, guidelines, policies, laws and regulations;
  10. Maintain cost effective operational environment for motivating employees for optimal performance.
  11. Coordinate and manage all Departments reporting to the General Manager;
  12. Ensure submission of quarterly/annual performance reports for the Board of Directors;
  13. To be the secretary of general meetings of the cooperative and of the board; and
  14. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Board from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Leadership management Cooperative Management, Agribusiness, Economics, Business Administration or related discipline from a recognized University/lnstitution,
  • Possession of a Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years working experience in a reputable institution with at least two (2) years in a senior position;
  • Excellent and well developed interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Strong written and communication skills with ability to write documentation in a concise and focused style;
  • Must be a team player, very self-motivated and able to manage and prioritize work load.
  • Should have computer skills;
  • Ability to work independently under pressure without compromising standards and quality of work.
