Management and Development for Health (MDH)
Tanzania is home to MDH, an indigenous non-governmental organization, whose main office is there. The MDH headquarters are situated in Dar es Salaam at Mikocheni B, which is on Mwai Kibaki Road.
The DCOP will be led and mentored by the Chief of Party (COP). The development of institutional capacity for the project’s technical leadership and assistance will be the responsibility of the DCOP, in collaboration with the project team, government representatives, and implementing partners.
Under the guidance and support of the COP, the DCOP will manage the provision of technical services, organize activities, and maximize synergy and integration between project program areas and units. DCOP will supervise the day-to-day execution of programming initiatives and activities and coordinate their design in accordance with the workplan and scope that have been set.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall technical leadership, support, and strategic guidance to guarantee the timely and proper execution of projects in coordination with beneficiaries, the Tanzanian government, the private sector, and implementing partners.
- Assist in developing the skills of personnel at the national, subnational, and local levels to monitor antimicrobial resistance, promote biosafety and biosecurity measures, and reinforce and reinforce infection prevention practices through laboratory and surveillance system management and technical oversight.
- Assist in integrating, putting into practice, and supervising the One Health approach in project designs, workplans, activities, and reports by collaborating with One Health line ministries, the private sector, key stakeholders, and implementers.
- Must closely collaborate with the project’s finance team to monitor financial costs, evaluate budget reports, and advise the CoP and MDH Management on fund burn rate progress in accordance with the work’s agreed-upon scope.
- For coordinated execution and resource allocation, coordinate the yearly work plan and budgeting process with the project team, MDH senior management teams, implementing partners, MoH, PO-RALG, and all other pertinent stakeholders.
- To supervise the creation, evaluation, and prompt delivery of workplans, reports, and other important deliverables to the MDH senior Management team, implementing partners, and USAID/Tanzania in close collaboration with the Programs and Strategic Information Directorates.
Qualifications:
- a master’s degree or greater in a related subject, such as public health, applied or field epidemiology, laboratory sciences, infectious diseases, medicine, or climate and environmental science with A bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of experience in international development, or one health approach with at least five years of experience. An additional benefit will be professional training in management and leadership.
- It is extremely desirable to have demonstrated expertise setting up and overseeing complex public health project systems as the DCOP for a project financed by USAID, along with the ability to manage project money and a diverse workforce.
- possessing a minimum of eight years’ experience in two or more major, intricate, multisectoral health programs as a senior manager or leader.
- Possessing substantial experience and understanding of USAID rules, policies, compliance, regulations, relevant reporting requirements, and funding restrictions, as well as a minimum of five years of prior experience working on projects financed by USAID or its affiliates.
- shown the ability to think critically and solve problems in order to facilitate the prompt resolution of conflicts and the escalation of uncomfortable work environments.
- Proven ability to develop capacity in the areas of global health security, One Health, or related activities for personnel at the national and subnational levels, the private sector, and all important beneficiaries at all levels and in all sectors.
- In order to accomplish project objectives within the challenging Tanzanian landscape and settings, demonstrated ability to lead and maintain professional and ambient relationships with multi-sectoral teams, Line ministries for the One Health approach, donor representatives, developing partners, community/research/academic organizations, and the private sector.
