Milele Zanzibar Foundation (MZF)

A group of concerned citizens from Zanzibar and throughout the world established the non-profit, non-governmental Milele Zanzibar Foundation (MZF) in 2014 with the goal of guaranteeing the sustainable development and enhanced standard of living of rural communities in Zanzibar. The group seeks to lessen the risk of poverty that many people still experience, particularly in rural areas, by collaborating with local communities and government authorities to develop the islands.

Through comprehensive and sustainable development initiatives, MZF seeks to accelerate advancements in livelihood possibilities, education, and health in Zanzibar’s rural communities—vibrant, resilient, and sustainable communities.

An Executive Director is needed for a full-time on-site position in Zanzibar City. In addition to managing programs, the Executive Director will be in charge of the organization’s operations and strategic planning. They will establish relationships, oversee employees, work with stakeholders, and make sure that procedures are open and inclusive. In addition, the Executive Director will oversee advocacy, finance, and fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of program management, strategic planning, and non-profit management experience
  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Expertise in financial management and fundraising
  • Understanding of initiatives undertaken by communities and rural development
  • Capacity to establish partnerships and work together with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in advocacy and comprehension of social and political environments
  • Proficiency in Swahili and English.
