In order to carry out a project named “Higher Education for Economic Transformation” (HEET), which aims to increase access to higher education and improve the relevance and quality of programs in Higher Education Institutions, Mzumbe University has received support from the World Bank through the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MOEST). The project’s overarching goal is to empower the university to actively engage in and contribute to the growth and transformation of the country’s economy by enhancing its ability to expand higher education access and enhance the caliber and relevance of its curricula for the labor market.

Increasing the university’s usage of digital technology is one of the main goals of the HEET Project. This component focuses on the efficient use and deployment of digital tools for administrative and support functions, as well as teaching and learning processes. In particular, the component guarantees the digital delivery and improvement of the University’s administrative, academic, and support services. For this reason, “Higher Education for Economic Transformation” (HEET) is looking for a talented, dynamic, experienced, and competent applicant to work on a one-year contract in Tanzania.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing computer labs and offering lecturers and students the necessary technical support;
  • To inform and uphold the rules for the computer lab to every user;
  • to preserve the equipment and software in the labs’ security;
  • To keep lab computer hardware and software up to date in compliance with authorized maintenance schedules,
  • To install hardware and software in accordance with department head instructions;
  • To support educators in creating, constructing, and implementing instructional aids;
  • To help pupils utilize the laptops, accessories, and loaded applications;
  • To inform and report on the hardware and software needs for the laboratories to the department head;
  • To resolve issues with computers and networks and keep the gear and software in the labs up to date;

Qualification:

  • Possessing a regular diploma in information and communication technologies, computer science, and related fields.
  • Give employees and students instruction and support on how to use computers and associated peripherals;
  • Create and preserve productive working connections with other people;
  • Be able to successfully communicate in written and spoken Kiswahili and English;
  • Respect health and safety laws;
  • Operate alone with minimal guidance;
  • Time administration.
