Job Title: Field Technician 

Reporting Line Manager: Field Supervisor

Department: Operations

To expand its operations team, Northern Engineering Works Ltd. (NEWL) is hiring Field Technicians.

The chosen candidates for this role will perform Generator Service and Standardized Site Preventive and Corrective Maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Respect the Requirements for a Standard Day
  • Participate in all required meetings, including the daily cluster meetings.
  • Observe the site access guidelines.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for carrying out Site Preventive Maintenance (SOP)
  • Maintenance of Client and NEWL Assets in a Proper Way
  • Make that the designated sites have 100% DC power availability.
  • Within the ETR time, respond to callouts.
  • Make sure the NOC can see all designated locations.
  • Make sure that, within the SLA period, all assigned Site Work Orders (SWO) are closed.
  • Verify that each alarm is set up and ended correctly at each location.
  • Make sure DGs are kept in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Make that air conditioning units are maintained correctly in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Assure Maximum Data Integrity Right Away on Service
  • Measure the earth at the site. Participate in Trainings on Time
  • Keep up the designated portable DG.

SHEQ

  • SHAEQ Adherence for Every Project
  • Reporting to the NEWL SHEQ Manager any discovered hazards, near misses, and SHEQ nonconformities
  • Must record a minimum of one (1) close call and one (1) hazard every month.
  • To guarantee that no scheduled activity is executed without prior planning, discussion, and (Field Level Risk Assessment)
  • Should report any event or damage to property within a day
  • Using the Appropriate PPE
  • When traveling more over 150 km or three hours, make sure the JMP is filled.
  • Assure Appropriate Trash Disposal
  • Perform a Daily Vehicle Inspection
  • Attend the required OSHA inspection.
  • When necessary, will collaborate with the SHEQ team to report and investigate occupational occurrences and accidents. Qualification:
  • Electrical engineering diploma or bachelor’s degree, with at least three years of relevant experience
  • Registered with EWURA
  • Registered with ERB

Skills/ Abilities & Knowledge Requirement:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to interact with clients both internally and externally
  • Abilities to solve problems
  • Strong IT abilities, especially with regard to project management reporting tools and Excel
  • Proactive, creative, and detail-oriented
  • Confident
  • Independence in handling duties that are delegated to you
  • The capacity to pick things up fast
  • Ability to work under pressure, fulfill deadlines, keep a positive outlook, and deliver excellent customer service are requirements.
  • A legitimate driver’s license
  • Knowledgeable about the right ways to install power infrastructure and reticulation at BTS sites
  • Computer proficient and knowledgeable about Visio, MS Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks within the boundaries of instructions, established procedures, and generally accepted practices
