Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC)
The Data Protection Commissioner’s Office was founded under the Data Protection Act, 2019 and designated as a State Office under Article 260(q) of the Constitution. Its functions include regulating the processing of personal data, protecting individuals’ privacy, ensuring that the processing of personal data adheres to the principles outlined in Section 25 of the Act, establishing institutional and legal safeguards for personal data, and giving data subjects rights and remedies to protect their personal data from processing that is not compliant with the Act.
To improve the human capital needed to fulfill the mandate, the ODPC is hiring highly skilled, proactive, and self-motivated candidates to fill the next one (01) open positions.
Requirements:
- Grade C+ (Plus) or its certified equivalent from an accredited institution is required for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE);
- A bachelor’s degree in information communication technology or law from an approved university, or their equivalent;
- Proficiency with software for computers;
Responsibilities
- Obtaining and examining registration applications; drafting policies, processes, procedures, and strategies for certification and registration;
- Updating the Data Controllers and Data Processors register;
- Granting registration certificates to data processors and controllers;
- Any additional tasks that the supervisor assigns.
