IOM was founded in 1951 with the goal of advancing orderly and humanitarian migration for the good of all. It accomplishes this by offering assistance and counsel to both governments and refugees.

The selected candidate will be in charge of assisting in the formation of strategic alliances with the Tanzanian government, UN agencies, and other partners and stakeholders in the country’s capital, Dodoma, while working under the general supervision of the Chief of Mission in Dar es Salaam and the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator in Dar es Salaam. The incumbent will assist in the planning and execution of project activities coordinated and/or funded by IOM Tanzania in Dodoma and throughout the nation as a member of the Program team.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep an eye on how the budget is being implemented and make any required changes.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the administrative coordination of the project’s implementation, coordinating closely with various organizational units and outside partners to start requests, get approvals when needed, monitor administrative actions, etc.
  • Create status reports; note delivery deficiencies, bring them to the supervisor’s attention, and recommend remedial action.
  • Prepare and update reports, briefing notes, illustrations, statistical tables, and other types of documentation; draft communications on project-related matters.
  • Assist in the delivery of capacity building workshops; create training materials; schedule meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Assist with intricate information requests and queries; create and keep files and records.

Qualifications:

  • A graduation from school plus six years of related work experience; OR
  • A bachelor’s degree from an authorized university in the political or social sciences, international relations, development studies, migration studies, human rights, law, or a similar discipline plus four years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience communicating with national and international organizations, governmental bodies, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental groups;
  • Expertise dealing with vulnerable populations such as internally displaced people, migrants, refugees, victims of human trafficking, and others; and,
  • It is advantageous to have prior professional experience in a multicultural environment with nongovernmental, government, or international humanitarian organizations.
