SOS Children’s Villages is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth through and volunteer opportunities within its Children in Street Situation Project. SOS Children’s Villages Volunteers will support the implementation of street children intervention, directly contributing to the coordination, management, and execution of the Children in Street Situation (CiSS) project.

Volunteer Opportunities (6)

1. Volunteer – Dodoma (2 posts), Dar es Salaam (2 posts) and Mwanza (2 posts)

Direct Supervisor: Children in Street Situation) CiSS) Project Officer

Contract Duration: Six Months  

Responsibilities:

  • Help carry out project tasks while adhering to the Project Officer’s instructions.
  • Help the project team and take advantage of the chance to gain knowledge about reporting requirements, budgeting, and project management.
  • Gain experience with data management procedures by assisting in the compilation of project information for reports, communication materials, and monitoring procedures.
  • Attend meetings with the local governments, civil society, and private sector organizations in your district to observe and learn about the development and maintenance of relationships.
  • Assist in supervising the actions of street children, such as rescues and reunions.
  • Gain experience in event management by helping to plan and run training sessions, workshops, seminars, and coordination meetings for project partners.
  • Engage in national project assignments and cross-district activities to observe and learn about effective knowledge sharing and communication strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in community development, sociology, social work, or a similar discipline.
  • Strong enthusiasm for working with young people.
  • Swahili fluency is required; fluency in English is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Capability to function both individually and collaboratively.
  • Sensitivity to regional norms, ethics, and conditions while maintaining a dedication to children’s rights and gender equality.
