Using an understanding of the company’s core operations, competitive advantages, and goals, a business developer creates or methodically tests and refines a business plan for an agriculture enterprise, providing strategic direction on how to run, structure, and grow the business while building on sound financial assumptions. Based at the SAT Head Quarters in Morogoro, the business developer travels to clients throughout Tanzania and even beyond to conduct research on technology-based initiatives.
The ideal applicant will have experience managing or offering advice to startups, fusing the strategic vision of a CEO with the analytical skills of financial planning to deliver a growth roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Through meticulous study and analysis, develop and comprehend the current business (including products/services, customers, competitors, the market as a whole, and trends).
- Through interviews with these stakeholders, learn how key stakeholders view near-term growth generally and in relation to particular growth projects.
- Create a thorough financial analysis that accounts for a cautious, basic, and aggressive case that includes all of the assumptions, drivers, and financial statements for the next three to five years.
- Perform a comprehensive addressable market study for the company’s primary market, evaluate the key industry trends that are influencing the company, and explain the potential effects of these trends on the company.
- Examine research reports and carry out primary research to determine the ideal consumer profile and gauge demand for the company’s current offerings.
- Determine the direct and indirect rivals for the current and prospective revenue channels, as well as prospective competitors in the future.
- Establish a go-to-market plan that includes, if appropriate, experimenting with several marketing avenues.
- In order to align incentives and guarantee the long-term viability of the firm, review compensation plans and organizational structure.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, math, finance, operations, research, statistics, or a similar analytical field is preferred.
- Planning, forecasting, and business analysis knowledge in financial management; previous experience serving as an executive or advisor to a startup company is advantageous.
- Ideally prior experience working with agricultural projects
- Advanced knowledge in Excel. three or more years of hands-on experience creating and managing financial models using Excel
- Proficiency with tools for analysis and presentation
- Expertise in the consulting field
- Innate curiosity and an emphasis on the “big picture”
- Proficiency in carrying out market research, encompassing the evaluation and synthesis of research reports as well as primary research
- Knowledge of go-to-market tactics and marketing channels
- Good writing and verbal communication skills; ease in contacting and interviewing the company’s staff, customers, and management.
