Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS)
It is mandated to play specific voluntary humanitarian roles during disasters/emergencies, and peacetime as an auxiliary organ to the Public Authorities. Tanzania Red Cross Society was recognised and admitted to the membership of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in 1963. The TRCS Headquarters office are located in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam.
TRCS is the largest and most dependable local partner in delivering humanitarian services in Tanzania. The TRCS has an active network of members and volunteers in all regions in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar (Around 40% are women of more than 35,000 active volunteers.) Most importantly, because of its credibility, Tanzania Red Cross Society receives supports from a broad range of partners including the IFRC, the ICRC, the American Red Cross, the Spanish Red Cross, the Belgian Red Cross-Flanders, the French Red Cross, the Italian Red Cross, the China Red Cross and the Korean Red Cross. Other partners are UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP and UNFPA, the EU, USAID, CDC, BPRM, PACT and Pathfinder International. Tanzania Red Cross Society is looking for dynamic persons to fill the below vacancies.
Open Positions and Description:
1. Field Civil Engineer Officer – 1 POST
Responsibilities
- TRCS is searching for a Field Civil Engineer Officer to ensure the timely and efficient implementation of the construction works under various projects (3) carried out by the TRCS/SRC cooperation in Tanzania.
- In addition to working closely with government personnel (district engineers, RUWASA), contractors and their engineering staff on the job, the engineer is expected to report to and provide advice to the TRCS Program Manager in the Kigoma Town Office.
- Give precise and correct work certification.
Qualification
- Education:
- Possession of a registration as Graduate Engineer with ERB is considered an added advantage
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or water engineering from an approved college or university good standing as a professional engineer
- Having an ERB registration as a graduate engineer is regarded as an extra benefit.
- Understanding:
- Capability to preserve productive working relationships at all staff levels with contractors, local actors, partners, and other stakeholders
- Knowledge:
- Proficiency with computers and knowledge of AutoCAD, Arch CAD, EPANET, etc. computations involving hydraulics and structural analysis
- Effective handling of the Word, Excel, and Outlook Microsoft Office package.
- Understanding of the planning and construction of building structures
- Familiarity with battery storage systems, wiring, and solar panel installation familiarity with water projects, including pump and pipe mechanics familiarity with pertinent safety guidelines and standards Strong organizing and planning abilities
- Capability to preserve productive working relationships at all staff levels with contractors, local actors, partners, and other stakeholders
- Experience:
- Three years or more of experience working on WASH and building projects
- Prior construction project management experience
- Languages:
– Oral and written fluency in English is mandatory – Oral and written fluency in Kiswahili is mandatory
- Travel and work environment required:
- Situated in a Kigoma Town office
- Regular field trips to Kigoma region construction sites (Kakonko, Uvinza, etc.). The duration of field visits is one to three days.
