Organizational Design and Reporting Applications are being accepted for internships with the Library at the Registry of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (the “Mechanism”), which is located in Arusha, Tanzania, and will run from July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.
In order to fulfill the mandates of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (“ICTR”) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (“ICTY”) after they have completed their respective terms, the Security Council of the United Nations established the Mechanism in 2010.
Responsibilities:
- Help with the compilation of daily news summaries from print, radio, television, press conferences, and interviews from local, regional, and worldwide media sources.
- Help with protocol services and public relations.
- Help with library chores include finding journal articles online, answering reference questions, and managing circulation.
- Assist in organizing and carrying out Mechanism’s PR campaigns, which include creating social media content and looking through old materials to find relevant imagery and outreach on judicial proceedings.
- Help with answering questions and requests for information.
- Help with the arrangements for official visits.
Qualifications:
- Be in the final year of their first university degree program, or have finished it (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Possess a second university degree (Master’s degree) or its equivalent, or have finished a graduate school program.
- A degree in a pertinent discipline is required, such as information management, communications, journalism, multimedia studies, library/information science, or something similar.
- To apply for the United Nations Internship Program, you do not need to have any prior employment experience.
- During your internship, the United Nations should profit from your education, training, advanced coursework, and abilities.
- Familiarity with popular social media networks is necessary.
