The Industrial Development Corporation in Lusaka, Zambia is home to Zambia Cargo and Logistics Limited, a freight and forwarding service provider fully owned by the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
Supporting and implementing strong controls on compliance regulations will fall under the purview of the Risk and Compliance Officer. They will make sure that the company’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and compliance rules are in line. They will assist with compliance by carrying out risk assessments, putting compliance risk management procedures and techniques into place, and keeping them up to date.
Responsibilities:
- Create Risk Management Plans (RMPs) for compliance policies and have corporate consultations for all compliance standards and rules;
- carry out verification checks on compliance regulations and gap analyses;
- Make certain that the implementation, discussion, and evaluation of policy requirements occur;
- monitoring modifications to compliance policy controls and providing policy training;
- Drive the policy criteria for compliance in business areas;
- Make sure that Policies / Standards are evaluated on a timely basis, that significant changes are discussed, and that business is localized;
- Determine where compliance policies and standards need to be improved, and make sure the holes are promptly filled;
- Make sure that the needs for reporting policies are met, and offer advice on how to use document templates and comply with policy requirements.
- Keep an accurate and thorough compliance registry of all relevant policies and standards, and keep an eye on the lifecycles of relevant policies and standards;
- Create the organization’s risk management policy and process and oversee its implementation;
- Analyze present risks and identify potential hazards that could have an impact on the business to conduct a risk assessment;
- Organize the creation and upkeep of a risk register and other risk data that has distinct risk categories;
- Examine anomalies and problems with non-compliance;
- Report problems with compliance and suggest modifications;
- Create and put into action the plans required to reduce the likelihood of non-compliance;
- Resolve non-compliance issues in a way that discourages future occurrences and encourages following established guidelines;
- Create and put into place a trigger system, or early warning system, for violations of the company’s risk tolerance.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a closely related field, as well as more than three years of experience in an auditing or comparable function.
- Professional certifications include being a Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
- Working familiarity with ISO standards.
- Exposure to the transportation and forwarding sector.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken communication.
- proficiency with computers.
