Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF)

The first lady of Zanzibar, H.E. Mariam H. Mwinyi, also serves as the chairperson of the board of trustees for the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF), an NGO. The Foundation was properly registered under the Societies Act No. 6 of 1995 in July of 2021. The ZMBF seeks to support the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar’s (RGoZ) initiatives in achieving a high standard of living for all residents of Zanzibar. with a primary focus on eradicating gender-based violence against women, youth, and children, as well as improving public health and socioeconomic growth.

By fostering a strong sense of teamwork and performance motivation, the TPM develops, leads, and oversees the program team in order to realize the goals of the ZMBF’s Strategic Plan. This is accomplished through program development, efficient coordination, consolidation, technical assistance, and mentoring. In order to implement the ZMBF Strategic Plan, the function oversees and guarantees resource mobilization, allocation and prioritizing, and work plan coherence. This position is in charge of fostering long-term partnerships with other Partners and Donors in order to successfully implement the ZMBF program strategy.

Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Planning and Budgeting:
    • To guarantee that all ZMBF initiatives are in line with the larger ZMBF objectives, plans, and campaigns, exercise leadership in creating monthly, quarterly, and biannual strategic plans and budgets.
  2. Program Development, Implementation, and Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee the Program Team to meet the ZMBF Strategic Plan’s goals in relation to its targets.
    • Make sure that all ZMBF initiatives are carried out to a high standard, using community-based participatory techniques to convert program ideas into quality grant bids.
  3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
    • Keep an eye on field program activities to make sure they are in line with the strategic plan. Make sure that mandatory program and project performance reports are submitted on time, on schedule, and on quarterly and annual basis.
  4. Partnerships, Networking, and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Strengthen partnerships and networks in areas of cooperation, speaking on behalf of ZMBF in a variety of program-related venues for learning and information exchange.
    • Create and preserve connections with pertinent parties, working together with partners to guarantee that project tasks are carried out efficiently.
  5. Financial Management and Compliance:
    • Oversee program resources and expenses, making sure that program and project plans, as well as financial policies, are followed.
  6. Team Management, Development, and Capacity Building:
    • Oversee and direct the Program Team to accomplish goals while giving personnel orientation, instruction, coaching, and mentoring.
    • Oversee the strategies for local partners’ capacity building, provide technical leadership to guarantee the effectiveness and durability of actions.
  7. Advocacy, Representation, and Collaboration:
    • In public and professional settings, represent the organization by promoting project interests and making contributions to pertinent technical working groups.
    • To guarantee program success, work together with other departments and stakeholders, arranging program activities in a way that complements ZMBF’s overarching goals.
  8. Communication and Knowledge Management:
    • Create internal memos, newsletters, and other communications materials for the project or company.
    • Oversee and plan the effective operation of conferences, webinars, workshops, and peer learning sessions, among other knowledge-sharing events.
    • Track the communications budget while keeping an eye on the project’s communications efforts and looking for areas for improvement in collaboration with senior leadership.
  9. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Assist the technical team of ZMBF in recording project approaches, accomplishments, and outcomes. Work together with the CEO’s office to produce publications and scientific abstracts.
    • Keep minutes of important meetings and events and write thorough reports on them.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, project planning and management, international development, public health, or a similar discipline.
  • Five years minimum of project management experience, or an equivalent level of education and experience combined.
  • Eight years of minimum experience working in a similar capacity for an international organization or other well-known NGO.

Program Management Skills:

  • A track record of successfully overseeing difficult, high-impact initiatives in collaboration with other organizations, including managing relationships, people, and finances as well as developing capacity.
  • Strong conceptual, strategic, and planning thinking capabilities along with problem-solving ability.
  • It is advantageous if you have experience creating strategies, mapping stakeholders, and doing desk or literature evaluations.
  • It is necessary to have experience administering large-scale, internationally sponsored awards.
  • The capacity to work efficiently on challenging, time-consuming assignments.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Proficient in both written and spoken English communication; diplomatic while interacting with a wide range of audiences.

Leadership and Management Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities with a range of organizational talents, such as critical thinking, multitasking, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
  • Expertise leading teams with a variety of cultural backgrounds and acting in an inclusive manner.
  • The capacity to act discreetly and protect information secrecy.

Other Skills:

  • Proactive, resourceful, analytical, and meticulous, with a drive to pick up new skills and exercise initiative.
  • Adaptable and versatile, capable of thriving in a hectic setting, with inventive and creative thinking.
