The organization uses a participative approach to work with underprivileged communities in the areas of economic and social empowerment with the goal of assisting people in overcoming poverty and vulnerability. Based on a self-help philosophy, the Hand in Hand enterprise and job creation method offers training, skills, and assistance to empower impoverished individuals, especially women, to establish and maintain independent, market-based economic ventures.

For them and their families, this means a higher income, which in turn means better food security, better education for the kids, easier access to healthcare, better housing, and all around improved livelihoods.

At the branch level, the post is in charge of efficient financial management. Processing accounting transactions, creating branch financial reports, providing support for donor compliance and reporting concerns in accordance with professional standards, and managing the organization’s rules, methods, structures, and systems are just a few of the duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Branch Manager in creating precise yearly budgets.
  • Keep an eye on and compare the branch’s actual spending to its budget, look for deviations, and take appropriate action.
  • Make ensuring that all pertinent expenses are updated, accounting, reimbursement, and petty cash disbursements are completed on schedule.
  • For all supplies at the Branch, raise internal requisitions in compliance with the HIH EA TZ procurement policy.
  • Using monthly stock takes, deviation analysis, and appropriate action, manage the branch’s stationery inventory.
  • Examine every spending in relation to the approved budgets, and where necessary, consult the Branch Manager and Project Accountant about any instances of expense requisition or financial misappropriation.
  • Complete the branch liability payment processing and reconciliation on schedule.
  • Perform due diligence, review supplier quotes, and make sure that all out-of-pocket costs are within the project’s contractual parameters at the branch.
  • Ensure that passwords for computerized accounting systems are used and stored safely.
  • Responsible for maintaining secure and correct record keeping by filling out source documents, vouchers, and any other supporting accounting documents for future references. In charge of the safe custody of auditable documents submitted at the Branch.
  • Perform trial balance analysis to ensure that the balances, coding, and transaction management are accurate. You should also validate and approve journal vouchers that are raised to fix mistakes.
  • If applicable, take and submit statutory deductions.
  • Provide all relevant data and auditable documentation to support internal audit procedures. Then, respond to any feedback received.

Qualifications:

  • Possessing a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or a comparable field.
  • CPA(T) is an extra benefit.
  • Working familiarity with various computer application packages and computerized accounting.
  • A high degree of integrity to manage finances, assets, and transactions involving money.
  • Possessing strong interpersonal abilities to connect with individuals from different backgrounds.
  • A keen eye for detail to be able to carefully review the documentation supporting a payment before making it.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing abilities.
  • Fundamental auditing abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication in Kiswahili and English.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
