More than 300 Tanzanian businesspeople took the initiative to launch Akiba Commercial Bank Plc in August 1997, motivated to enter the microfinance industry by their moral and financial concern for the fate of millions of Tanzanians.

Supporting the bank’s digital transformation is a key function of the position. In order to facilitate the smooth integration of backend systems with user-facing systems (Channels), the role requires programming expertise in both front-end and backend technologies.

Additionally, the ability to maintain and create Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is required. The lending culture of the bank offers an additional chance to work on both new and current system solutions in the areas of increasing the bank’s internal arrears management and automating credit processes. When a bank adopts digital channels, its employees must be capable of creating, maintaining, and modifying these platforms.

Responsibilities:

Verifies project requirements with analyst and customer by going over program objective, input data, and output requirements before producing software designs.
Analyzes requirements and creates work flow charts and UML diagrams using computer capabilities, subject matter, programming languages, and logic. Arranges project needs in programming order.
Utilizing the appropriate systems and tools, develop software.
Creation and modification of the current systems (ESB, for example)
Software solutions should be integrated with higher level systems.
Conduct acceptance testing for users and take part in unit testing.
Creates the system’s technical and user operation manuals.
Periodically test the code to make sure it yields the desired results, and debug it as needed.
Upgrade software and systems to increase their efficiency and security.
Continue to keep accurate software system documentation.

Qualification:

A bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or a similar profession.

Professional:

Professional certifications in IT, such as those in C#, C++, Java, XML, Python, Linux, Windows, and so forth.
Project management certifications, such as PMP and Prince2,
Framework for IT service management, such as COBIT5 and ITIL

Desired work experience:

At least two years of professional experience in the banking industry building and maintaining IT systems
Familiarity with relational database technology, including architecture, software, and structure, and computer operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Unix.

Familiarity with SQL and Shell programming
