Assist in the implementation and monitoring of projects/programs in compliance with the bank’s environmental management system and climate finance agenda in the areas of climate resilience, and to guarantee proper oversight of Sustainable Finance initiatives both internally to the bank’s operations and externally to projects financed by the bank.
Responsibilities:
- Assist banks in discovering opportunities for climate finance and sustainability through coordination and collaboration with a range of partners and stakeholders.
- Examine and carry out the Environmental and Socia Action Plan (ESAP) in accordance with the demands of global financiers, investors, and funders for the organization.
- In charge of implementing the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) in accordance with national and international best practices. These include educating and training lending and business staff about the ESMS and Environmental and Social Risks Assessment (ESRA), developing internal awareness and capacity on sustainability, environmental, social, and governance (ESG), green and climate finance risk and opportunities, classifying environmental and social issues (ES&S) and periodically reviewing the exclusion list, and conducting environmental and social due diligence, which includes site visits to projects and business activities with high environmental and social risks.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an approved college in one of the following fields: environmental engineering, environmental science, project management, banking, finance, economics, accounting, or climate change.
- The use of Project Management Professionals (PMP) will be beneficial.
- A person with extensive expertise in social, gender, and environmental safeguards that are relevant to credit operations and sustainable finance.
- A person having extensive knowledge of projects for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
- A person with extensive expertise in both domestic and international project management.
- One who has operational experience in environmental management.
- Social safety nets, gender roles, and environmental management abilities.
- Background on Climate and Sustainable Finance.
- Expertise in project management, monitoring, and funding proposals, as well as sustainable banking.
