On behalf of the Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC), the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) welcomes energetic and skilled Tanzanians to fill five (5) open positions.

Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary of The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) founded in December 2013 and began operations in July 2014. The TGDC company is tasked with spearheading the development of geothermal resources in the country for power generation and direct heat uses.

Open Positions and Description

1. Geochemist II

  • Responsibilities: To design and carry out geochemical studies for the exploration, development, exploitation, and monitoring of geothermal resources in various geothermal fields. Responsible for locating and appraising possible geothermal locations.
  • Qualifications: A recognized university can award a bachelor’s degree in geochemistry, BSc with Geology (Geology and Chemistry), or Geology and Geothermal Exploration. Possession of a postgraduate degree in geochemistry, geothermal sciences, geoscience, or earth science will be advantageous.

2. Geophysicist II

  • Responsibilities: To design and carry out geophysical exploratory studies using various geophysical techniques. Responsible for finding and appraising possible geothermal fields.
  • Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in geophysics, geothermal, geology, geosciences, geology and geothermal exploration, or earth sciences. Possession of a postgraduate degree in geophysics, geothermal sciences, geoscience, or earth science will be advantageous.

3. Technician II (Geology)

  • Responsibilities: Collect rock samples from various geothermal areas. Preparing samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Qualifications: A diploma (NTA level 6) in Geology and Mineral Exploration, Exploration and Mining Geology, Petroleum Geology, Petroleum Geosciences, or Exploration Geology.

4. Technician II (Geochemistry)

  • Responsibilities: To collect samples of water, gas, and rocks for on-site and laboratory examination. To treat, preserve, and prepare samples for various analyses.
  • Qualifications: A diploma (NTA level 6) in Science and Laboratory Technology, or Laboratory Science and Technology, from a renowned institution.

5. Technician II (Geophysics)

  • Responsibilities: To deploy, operate, and maintain geophysical equipment during field surveys to ensure that instruments function properly and collect high-quality data. To eliminate undesired signals (noise) from raw geophysical data, follow the established standard operating processes.
  • Qualifications: Geology and Mineral Exploration, Exploration and Mining Geology, Petroleum Geology, Petroleum Geosciences, or Exploration Geology are all NTA level 6 diploma programs.
