MUHAS Undergraduate Entry Requirements

In order to pursue a variety of undergraduate degree and non-degree programs at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, candidates must meet both the general minimum entrance requirements and the additional entrance requirements unique to each academic program.

Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Programmes

General Minimum Entrance Requirements

If an applicant meets any of the following requirements, they will be taken into consideration for admission to the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences’ first-degree program:

Before taking the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or its equivalent, candidates must have passed the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or its equivalent and earned passes in FIVE recognized subjects, three of which must have been at the Credit level.

A total of five points from three subjects (for Arts programs) and two points from two subjects (for Science-based programs) are required for two principal level passes in appropriate subjects in the ACSEE or equivalent. The grade to point conversion scale is as follows: A = 5; B = 4; C = 3; D = 2; E = 1; S = 0.5 and F = 0 point.
[Note: Principal level passes in Islamic knowledge and divinity are not taken into account.]

A suitable comparable diploma from a college that has been fully accepted by the MUHAS Senate and fully registered by NACTE, with a minimum grade of B or a credit level. An Upper Second class or B+ average is required for diplomas that are further divided into Upper and Lower classes.

Note: Before being considered for admission to the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, applicants from nations with 8-4-4 educational systems must finish at least one year of study in a university in their home nations.

The Mature Age Entry Examination (MAEE) with a minimum score of 100, which consists of at least 50 in Paper I and 50 in Paper II. The purpose of MAEE is to provide exceptional Tanzanian applicants with the chance to pursue a first degree at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, even if they do not meet the university’s prerequisites for direct or equivalent enrollment.
