Mwambao uses a community-based network that spans several coastal areas and villages to empower local people and provide them with opportunities to learn from one another. This network structure encourages group action on common goals, including influencing policy, as well as learning.

Since 2014, Mwambao and Fauna & Flora International have collaborated to support the Pemba Channel Conservation Area’s (PECCA) efficient management.
