SOS Children’s Villages is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth through internships and volunteer opportunities within its Children in Street Situation Project. SOS Children’s Villages Interns and Volunteers will support the implementation of street children intervention, directly contributing to the coordination, management, and execution of the Children in Street Situation (CiSS) project.

Internship Opportunities (5)

1. Intern – Dodoma (1 post), Dar es Salaam (2 posts) and Mwanza (2 posts)

Direct Supervisor: Children in Street Situation (CiSS) Project Officer

Contract Duration: Six Months with possible extension


  • Make sure the project’s activities are carried out on time, and that the budget and reporting requirements are followed.
  • Submit technical advice and suggestions while being supervised by the CISS Project Officer.
  • Gather project data on a regular basis for communication materials, reports, and process monitoring.
  • Maintain close ties and facilitate cooperation by setting up meetings with the District Local Governments, Civil Society, and Private Sector Organizations.
  • Oversee the activities of street children and assist LGAs and collaborators in ensuring the effectiveness of rescues and reunions.
  • For the purpose of implementing the initiative, identify, educate, manage, and mentor dropping centers and social workers.
  • Plan and oversee training sessions, conferences, workshops, and partner coordination meetings.
  • Participate in national, cross-district, and associated project tasks, promoting knowledge sharing and strategic communication.
  • Ensure that project experiences and lessons learned are effectively presented by providing the project manager with regular project updates.

  • A bachelor’s degree in community development, sociology, social work, or a similar discipline.
  • An additional benefit is one year of experience in a relevant sector, experience working with children and youth, and experience managing children connected to the streets.
  • Strong facilitation and organizing abilities.
  • The capacity to function in a multicultural setting.
  • Swahili fluency is required; fluency in English is also needed.
  • Proficiency with computers and technical report writing abilities.
  • Capability to function both individually and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work and travel to the street kid settlement area on the map.
  • Capacity to operate in a multidisciplinary setting with little supervision.
  • Sensitivity to women and children’s issues, as well as to local conditions, ethics, and traditions.
