Tanzania Standard Newspapers Limited (TSN)
Tanzania Standard Newspapers Limited, a wholly-owned Government’s media house, was established under the Companies Act, 2002. The Company is the oldest media house in Tanzania, and its operation dates back in the 1930s. The Company publishes the Daily News, Sunday News, Habari LEO and Spoti LEO as well as online editions of these newspapers. As part of its structural transformation and business expansion in pursuit of more market share in East Africa and beyond, the Company operates Commercial Printing Plant.
The plant undertakes wide variety of printing works to produce items such as diaries, calendars and books.
Open Positions and Description:
1. Assistant Graphics Designer II – 1 POSTS
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To create eye-catching webpages and advertising art ii. To compile and use data and infographics
- Obtaining and getting ready pages printing layout
- To guarantee precision in the finished product
- To recommend the ideal page design to the News Desk
- To get plates ready for printing
- To carry out any additional relevant tasks that the supervisor may prescribe.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Possessing a Graphic Design PLUS Certificate or an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or CSEE from an accredited institution, or an equivalent certification.
2. Assistant Journalist II – 1 POSTS
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To compile articles, features, photographs, and news;
- To provide an overview of textual content;
- To carry out research and gather data via press conferences, interviews, and an already-existing network of informants and connections;
- To write articles and news reports by the designated deadlines and in compliance with
- utilizing internal style manuals;
- To verify and authenticate the data obtained from external sources references;
- Writing news articles on a range of subjects, including politics, economics, and global
- Events, crime, commerce, sports, leisure, culture, travel, and a plethora of other topics; and
- To carry out any additional tasks that the supervisors may impose.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Possessing a Certificate in Journalism, Mass Communication, or an equivalent certificate from accredited institutions, in addition to a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). The applicant must also possess proficiency with computer programs.
3. Proof Reader II – 2 POSTS
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To verify language structure and grammar;
- Should notify the News Desk of any stories that seem suspect due to names, dates, or recurrence;
- To draw the News Desk’s attention to a matter that they believe is unclear;
- To guarantee that every adjustment is done accurately;
- To create, in conjunction with the immediate superior, individual goals, targets, and performance standards for the individual performance agreement; and
- To carry out any additional tasks that the supervisors assign you in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in any of the following subjects: education with a major in linguistics, English, literature, or Swahili; or equivalent training in any of these fields.
