Wasoko Tanzania

Through redefining access to basic products and services, Wasoko, or “people of the market” in Swahili, is modernizing communities throughout Africa. We are the largest digital retail distribution platform in East Africa, driven by our own internal logistics network. Wasoko is a marketplace used by tens of thousands of unofficial shopkeepers in seven countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Zambia) to acquire daily necessities and obtain working capital funding.

This is Wasoko’s chance. Wasoko is in the best position to develop the technology-enabled rails to service the more than 1 billion African consumers through informal retailers because of its name, size, and logistics network. In order to help communities throughout Africa obtain more for less, we are developing an operating system for informal retailers that is digital first. Initially, we will concentrate on B2B distribution, but we will swiftly add additional tools and services as well.
